Celery belongs to plants from the celeriac family, as well as typical and root varieties. However, unlike them, its leaves are not bitter and do not have a storage root. Instead, celery has a wide rosette of leaves with hard and juicy petioles, which are commonly used in the kitchen. Compared to other celery varieties, it is the celery that has the most mineral salts and a natural antioxidant, which is vitamin C.
Celery contains a valuable plant compound called apigenin, which works as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant agent. It also has cancer-fighting properties.
In Poland, the popularity of celery increased only a few years ago, due to numerous reduction diets containing this vegetable, as well as the growing awareness of consumers about the health benefits of its use. As a rich source of fiber, celery perfectly supports the proper peristalsis of the intestines.
Celery perfectly enriches the taste of healthy cocktails, pesto, salads, and stews.
