For years, it has been competing with the potato for the title of the most popular vegetable in Poland. The king of cucumber salads and school sandwiches. The popularity of this vegetable makes it easy to forget about its nutritional value. And cucumber has a lot to offer! It is a vegetable rich in polyphenolic compounds, vitamin C and chlorophyll - even though it consists almost entirely of water. 

Morphologically, cucumbers belong to cucurbit vegetables. The color of their cucumber skin is usually dark green, although it can change to yellow and sometimes orange. Cucumbers, depending on the species, may differ in texture - they are smooth or warty.  

Cucumbers provide countless cooking inspirations and are widely used in Slavic cuisines. They can be fermented, thanks to which they become a very valuable product that supports the functioning of the digestive system. 

It is worth knowing that Poland is the leading cucumber producer in the European Union. The cucumber cultivation area here exceeds even farms in Spain and Romania.
